Cisgender breast implant surgery
For many cisgender women, breast size is often central to a woman’s feeling of confidence in her appearance. Breast implants, also called breast augmentation mammoplasty, can help enhance the size of underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have experienced the effects of aging and childbirth. Our practice helps women achieve the size breast that will satisfy their unique feeling of self confidence.
Breast augmentation surgery does not correct severely drooping breasts, but it can sometimes be done in combination with a breast lift to remove excess skin and provide firmness.
Transfeminine and non-binary breast augmentation
Breast implant surgery for trans and non-binary patients requires a different approach. Our goal is to create a breast shape that is like the natural cisgender youthful breast. This generally means a ratio of volume of 45% above nipple and 55% below nipple, with a natural slope and fuller bottom.
Patients often start with a more robust pectoral major muscle and triangular or tubular breast shape with elevated inframammary folds. A narrow base width of breast compared to the chest wall and smaller areolar pigmented skin are other characteristics.
The best way to achieve the desired changes with a well-protected and supported implant is to use an incision within the inframammary fold region and put the implant underneath the pec major muscle. Cutting certain connective tissue bands and dual plane coverage of implant will help achieve the desired shape.
