Breast Reduction for Women
Women who have very large breasts know that the excess weight can cause ailments such as back pain and posture problems. This can result in pain and discomfort, not to mention bring unwanted attention to the chest area.
A breast reduction, also called a reduction mammoplasty, helps to create a more proportional balance between a woman’s breasts and the rest of her body.
With this procedure, Dr. MacPhee removes some of the excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breast area to reshape and reduce the size of the breasts, often repositioning and reshaping the nipple as well. A breast reduction makes the breast not only smaller, but firm and lighter, relieving physical discomfort and giving the patient renewed confidence.
Breast Reduction for Men
Gynecomastia is a condition of over-developed breasts in men that can result from heredity, hormonal changes or obesity. Men with this condition often have excess localized fat and/or glandular tissue development, and sometimes excess skin in the breast area. Gynecomastia can occur in one or both breasts.
Depending on the patient’s particular breast structure, Dr. MacPhee may reduce breast size in men through a surgical reduction, liposuction, or a combination of the two. The result is a firmer and flatter chest with a more masculine contour.
