Chin enhancements are designed to reconstruct or rejuvenate the contours of the chin and jawline. Procedures may involve the reduction or addition of mass to the patient’s chin. Enhancements can be used to create or fill dimples, repair damages to the jawline, and more.
A mentoplasty, or chin reduction, can be done to reduce and reshape a prominent chin for a more subtle appearance. Some of our non-binary patients and patients transitioning from male to female desire this procedure to achieve greater feminization of their face.
A genioplasty, or chin augmentation, adds volume to a weak or receding chin, creating a more prominent profile. For our practice, this can be seen during female to male gender confirming surgeries. The procedure is done by making a small incision inside the lower mouth or in the natural crease below the chin and implanting a synthetic material that feels like normal bone tissue.
Chin augmentation is one of many procedures Dr. MacPhee performs for MtF and FtM transgender patients. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Keelee and her team will meet with you to discuss your desired outcomes, follow-up care and appointment scheduling, as well as answering any questions you may have prior to booking the procedure.
