Dr. MacPhee is a Duke-affiliated, board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in transgender reconstruction. Mental health professionals and others working with individuals who are transitioning can provide therapy referral to their patients for consultations with Dr. MacPhee having confidence that she will address their surgical and aesthetic needs with experience, skill and empathy.
With a limited number of skilled transgender surgeons in the U.S., sex reassignment surgery can be difficult to obtain. Following the Standards of Care set forth by WPATH, Dr. MacPhee offers an array of procedures for transwomen (MtF), transmen (FtM) and those transitioning to non-binary (MtN, FtN). She continues to train and grow her transgender surgery practice, staying abreast of new procedures and surgical advancements as they develop.
Her focus and dedication to this area of practice is what draws patients to seek therapy referral from across the country. They choose Dr. MacPhee not only for her skill and compassion, but also for the environment in which she practices. The City of Durham is highly supportive of LGBT issues, and Dr. MacPhee performs surgeries at Duke Regional Hospital, a recognized Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality. Here, patients feel at ease knowing there is no judgment and the facilities at Duke are world-renowned. The practice also offers a private recovery residence for patients traveling from out of state.
Dr. MacPhee is passionate about the work she does with transgender patients. She has seen first-hand the positive and profound effects that sex reassignment surgery can have on a person’s life. With a caring, hands-on bedside manner, she makes each patient feel comfortable and ensures their ultimate well-being.
